Doulton Ultracarb with a 1000 gal capacity

Doulton And British Berkefeld ceramic filters start with a Silver impregnated "Sterasyl". The incorporation of silver locked within the ceramic structure inhibits the growth of bacteria giving the ceramics self-sterilizing properties and removes the need for boiling of the filter fo remove or kill the impurities within the ceramic pores.

The Doulton range of ceramic filter elements starts with the "Sterasyl" and with added core medias can become a three stage filter in one, eliminating the need for expensive 4 and 5 stage systems. Doulton ceramics do not remove the beneficial minerals from the water, ensuring the filtered water is enjoyable to drink and yet safe from harmful impurities. The Ultra Carb Imperial starts with a Sterasyl ceramic outer shell-empty core and ads a carbon block filter core with ATS resin 0.9 Micron absolute

Ceramics started to become widely used for the filtration of drinking water in the 19th century. At that time, cholera outbreaks were a common occurrence in London. Doulton & Co., with their factory on the banks of the River Thames, were in the perfect position to join the fight against water-borne disease.
In general, the smaller the pore size of a filter and the more complicated the path the water takes through the filter medium, the more effective it is at removing particles from water. A ceramic has a small and complex pore structure, making it an ideal filter medium.

Fairey Industrial Ceramics Limited (FICL) has taken ceramic technology to the next level. We are able to accurately control the pore structure of our Doulton® and British Berkefeld® ceramic drinking water filters, ensuring excellent product consistency. Customers can, as a result of our exacting standards, expect the same high quality from our filters every time they are used.

Doulton UltraCarb drinking water filters are one of the best water filters made.
